Best Weapons in 99 Nights in the Forest

The best weapon in this game is the one that solves your actual problem, and most of your problems are speed problems. Here is how the 2026 weapon lines rank by job.

Short answer

Pick by job, not by damage. The Ice Bow is the best general pick because its freeze slow directly answers the one problem you cannot otherwise solve — hunters are faster than you. Honey Beenade is the best crowd answer, Alien Shotgun the best burst option in tight spaces, and Bee Stinger Spear the best early melee.

  • Ice Bow — ranged with a freeze slow; solves the speed problem.
  • Honey Beenade — area damage for grouped cultists.
  • Alien Shotgun — burst damage in caves and strongholds.
  • Bee Stinger Spear — early melee with a poison slow.

Three questions

How to choose a weapon

  1. Are you trying to escape something or kill something? If it is escape, a slow matters more than damage.
  2. One target or many? Area weapons beat single-target weapons the moment cultists arrive in groups.
  3. Open ground or tight space? Ranged wins outside, burst wins in caves and strongholds.

Why damage rankings mislead here

Player baseline: 16 walkspeed walking, roughly 24 sprinting, 100 max HP. Every enemy number on this site is interpreted against these three values, because a raw "walkspeed 45" means nothing until you know you cannot outrun it. When the threat is both immortal and faster, a damage tier list is ranking the wrong attribute.

Recommendations

Best weapon by job

Best for crowds

The Honey Beenade is the answer to grouped cultists. Fighting cultists one at a time is slow and exposes you to patrols; an area throwable collapses that problem into one action.

Read this before crafting

What weapons cannot fix

  • They do not stop immortal hunters. No weapon converts The Deer, The Owl or The Ram into loot.
  • They do not replace light or traps. Those remain your primary defences.
  • They do not remove the escort risk. Rescues fail on the way home far more often than at the cage.

Craft order

Defences, then navigation, then weapons. A player with a great weapon and no traps still dies on the first bad night.

What to do next

  • Decide whether your problem is speed, crowds or burst before crafting.
  • Build defences first — weapons do not stop a night hunter.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best weapon in 99 Nights in the Forest?
For most players it is the Ice Bow, because the freeze slow addresses the core problem: night hunters move faster than you and cannot be killed. Slowing them is worth more than extra damage you cannot safely apply.
Is a slow effect really better than damage?
In this game, usually yes. Against an immortal target, damage changes nothing about the outcome, but a slow changes whether you get away.
Which weapon is best for crowds?
The Honey Beenade. It is an area-of-effect throwable designed for breaking up groups of cultists, which is otherwise a slow and dangerous one-by-one fight.
Should I prioritise weapons or defences?
Defences first. Traps, walls and light stop deaths; weapons only shorten fights. Buy weapons when your camp can already hold a night without you.
